Vanessa Croome
SEMI-FINALIST 2021
Nanaimo-born soprano Vanessa Croome is currently a Artist-in-residence with the Atelier Lyrique of Opéra de Montréal. Her recent credits include the roles of Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Morgana (Alcina), and Cunégonde (Candide). She has lent her voice to various new works, notably to the 2020 world premiere of L’hiver attend beaucoup de moi with the Opéra de Montréal and covered in the 2018 premiere of An American Soldier with the Opera Theater of Saint-Louis.
Vanessa was a finalist in the Canadian Opera Company’s Centre Stage Competition, the Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier lyrique auditions (winner, Stingray Rising Star Award), and the Elizabeth Wirth Vocal Prize. She made her professional debut with the Opera Theater of Saint–Louis (Gerdine Young Artists Program) in 2018. Vanessa is a graduate of McGill University and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
