Laureates

First Prize:

  • Barbara Bronfman Prize – $20,000
    The OSM Competition First Prize is named in memory of Barbara Bronfman – a lover of music and dear patron of the OSM. Thanks to her legacy gift, generations of talented young musicians will be supported in the launch of their careers and provided with the opportunity to perform with the OSM for the first time.
  • OSM Invitation Prize
    Offered by Canimex, invitations to perform in the OSM programming: recitals, chamber music, or other engagements.
  • Michèle-Paré Prize
    A residency at Orford Musique, during which the laureate will develop a community engagement project and receive mentorship to support and guide their efforts.
  • ICI MUSIQUE Prize
    As part of the first prize, ICI MUSIQUE will broadcast the semifinal recital of the winner on the radio, in addition to creating an artist profile. This profile will also be broadcast in the form of segments during various slots on the digital radio station ICI MUSIQUE Classique.
  • McGill University – Schulich School of Music Scholarship
    A scholarship covering tuition fees for a performance program at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.

Second Prize:

  • $12,000 prize offered in collaboration by the Marjorie and Gerald Bronfman Fund and the Lambert-Fortier-Gagnon Estate.

Third Prize:

  • $7,500 prize offered by the Paul-A. Fournier Fund

Fourth Prize:

  • $5,000 prize offerd by Mrs. Dixi Lambert.

Awards

  • Prize for Best Interpretation of a Canadian Work
    $3,000 prize offered by the OSM Volunteer Association.
  • Ann Birks Career Grant
    This new grant will help support the launch of the winners’ careers beyond the Competition by offering coaching, training programs and performance opportunities.
  • Air Canada Prizes
    Semifinalists will each receive a $1,000 Air Canada gift card to cover their transportation or use at their discretion.
  • Domaine Forget International Music and Dance Academy Award
    Three scholarships covering tuition and accommodation expenses are offered among the semifinalists for a two-week training program at the Domaine Forget de Charlevoix International Music and Dance Academy in 2025.
  • Fonds Les Amis de l’Art – Young Audience Award
    The Fonds Les Amis de l’Art is offering a $2,500 prize to the performer who receives the most online votes.
  • OAcademy Scholarship
    Offered by the Fondation Ariane Riou & Réal Plourde, the OAcademy Artist Diploma is a fast-track professional certificate that prepares rising career musicians for the complex demands of an evolving performance industry.
    The scholarship also includes a one-week orchestra residency in Monterrey, Mexico, made possible through the support of Ms. Marina Gusti.
  • Orford Music Academy Award
    Three scholarships covering tuition and accommodation expenses are offered among the semifinalists for a two-week training program at the Orford Music Academy in 2025.
  • Paul Merkelo Scholarship
    The Paul Merkelo scholarship has been established to promote talent and excellence, and above all, the determination of young Canadian brass players to support their dream of a career in music.
  • Semifinalits Prizes
    The OSM Musicians Association offers $500 prizes to the semifinalists who did not reach the final round.
  • Stingray Rising Stars – Audience Award
    Stingray is offering a $2,500 prize to the performer who receives the most online votes.
