Aline Sam-Giao decided to pursue a career in the music industry after graduating from Sciences Po Paris and the University of Sussex in the UK, driven by her passion for playing the oboe.

Her professional journey began with baroque music in the Paris region (Le Poème Harmonique) and extended to various regional orchestras, including the Berlioz Festival and the Pays de Savoie Orchestra. In 2017, she moved to Lyon to become the general director of the Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon, a symphony orchestra with 104 musicians that rehearses in a 2,100-seat hall, which has been part of the ECHO European concert hall organization since 2022.

Drawn to the international scene, Aline Sam-Giao left France six years later and has been serving as the general manager of the Liège Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and its historic 1,100-seat philharmonic hall since September 2023. This is the only professional symphony orchestra in French-speaking Belgium.

In 2015, Sam-Giao was awarded the title of knight by France’s Order of Arts and Letters.
